Is it true that for turbo cars one could get more HP from taking off mufflers? If so, then what do I put as far as a "muffler" do I get a SLP resinator or leave it without anything? I thought it was illegal to drive without a muffler but that's why im asking. :pimp:

It could give you acouple extra hp. It really just removes back pressure which helps your turbo spool quicker resulting in better throttle responce. I would do it just because I dont Give a F***.

I dont think it's Illegal to run without a muffler as long as the car is quieter than the ambient traffic noise...lol yea I got a ticket for that running open headers...

fern your running a flowmaster now, great sound looks good with duals, however a flow is a TERRIBLE muffler for a turbo car, open down pipe make most power, its gonna be loud as hell any fumy as a MOFO!!!!! take off thst flow put a dynomax bullet muffler, itys a straight through style muffle none restrictive, it give it a different sound, my turbo stang sounded good with it, the way yours is set up now its choking it dowm to like inch and half, i ran a 3 inch down pipe with a 3 inch dynomax bullet muffler all the way back, sure mustangs look good with duals but performance wise thats the way to go, my stang made 575rwhp :headbang:

Andrew made a very good point, flowmasters kill power on any boosted engine. I went through at least 5 set-ups before finding one that sounded good and didn't kill the power in my truck. As far as straight exhaust I run no mufflers on my Stang and have never had any problems.

We have a great exhaust guy right here in LL who can hook you up.

I ran a open down pipe on our car and it was loud and I think it sounds like shit. But that's me. I had flows on it at first when I took the flows off I could feel a BIG difference in power and spool time. So I would stay away from them I ended up putting a Moroso Spiral Flow mufflers on it I love them and the really hush the car down they give a very deep sound . I am only seeing 3psi of back pressure with them at 18 psi. at 9 psi I see no back press. at all.But like said above turbos love straight through mufflers

Open downpipe ftw. I love hearing the turbo spool. Cops usually don't harass the bigger motor loud guys. I've been running loud V-8s for a couple years without ever getting in trouble for it but Trey's STi with open downpipe got pulled over every week. Guess cops just don't like them 4 bangers.

A open downpipe works good and the turbo usually muffles the exhaust enough that you could get by with out the popo's harrassing you, but if you want a muffler anything but a chambered muffler would work good. the dynomax ultra flows work really good, the magna flow magna pak mufflers are good as well. They did a wright up on the turboforums.com about muffler choices with turbo cars. The switch from a flowmaster to a dynomax is surprising.
