So I'm on my way home from the Thursday night Fudruckers meet, it's nice and cool out, and the Talon is feeling great. I'm pretty pumped from rapping with some gearheads, and feeling froggy. I'm cruising North on Edith, heading for a Right hand turn on Osuna, and off in the distance I see three tail lights. It occurs to me that one signature is some random BS commuter car, and the third light appears to be a motorcycle... So I pick up the pace, hoping for some action, and catch up to an early 2000's GSXR600 with one foot down in the right hand turning lane. Sweet. I pull up behind him and look to the East up Osuna, and see about a half mile of clear road, and some tail lights in the distance. At this point I'm imagining what I would have done with that straightaway 8 years ago when I rode a '98 R1, and I know that this guy is gonna point his right elbow at the ground as soon as he see's the mountains. The GSXR rider lifts his left leg and dips the right hand turn up osuna with me following close behind... Sure enough, the bike straightens out heading east, and he puts his chin on the tank. Having anticipated this, and hoping for my first pull with a bike since the installation of the 62mm, I had flattened the pedal as I made the right hand turn, and climbed to about 4300rpm by the time the bike was pinned. After an excruiatingly long 400rpm, the bike was about 3-4 cars ahead of me, but the 62mm was fully spooled in first, and the bike wasn't gaining. I wrapped out first, and pulled second. The GSXR rider was still flat out, but I started gaining ground towards the top. At the approach of redline, I had closed the gap to about 2 cars. I slam third, and Black Talon comes alive. As I roll past 7000rpm the rider does a double take just in time to see a beat up 1GB walk right past. The GSXR rider keeps his chin down, and back flat, but to no avail, I strech the lead out to about 3 cars approaching a shift into 4th, and shut it down in time to get around the commuters I had seen from Edith, and change lanes to make my destination left hand turn. The GSXR rider gets around the traffic as well, and continues to blast his way through traffic up Osuna. Given the body language/posture of the rider, I'm pretty sure I walked a wide open GSXR600, but since I chased him, there's no way to know for sure...
