Well the 05-07 C6 has the LS2 engine, 6.0L 364ci rated at 400hp. The 08+ has the newer LS3 engine, 6.2L 376ci rated at 436hp. The 06+ ZO6 has the LS7 engine, 7.0L rated at 505hp. Those are the only differences I can think of engine wise. I personally think the LS3 vetts are the best starting point for modding.

just buy any LS based vette and mod the hell out of it! you wont be disappointed!
true that, that's all there was on the videos of tx2k9 after races. Fast!
but the c6 z06 (ls7) corvettes are still sitting up there with their high retail value. If I remember correctly they were around 70k new, who knows now.

even if it is wikipedia, it has basic information that you would need to know. Have fun:thumbsup:

Best part about corvettes is they come with some fat ass tires, just like a viper.

Edit: There's also a Z51 package for the corvette I think, anyone know what it adds/deletes?

Thats what Im asking you guys. I keep getting pulled both ways. I was looking at a C6 ZO6 with 33kmiles for 50k. Or do I get another Z and build it up again?

You could buy a C6 and build a bad ass motor, make more power than a Z06 and still be in it less than buying a Z06 IMO.

But you wouldn't be at a ZO6's handling/brakes/suspension level. Not to mention looks.

Well for all out handling/breaking/suspension and power might as well just wait on a ZR1 and be done with it.

I havent ridden in a Z06, but the C6 i worked on handled tits @ 160mph. I couldnt believe how well that thing stuck to the road, i couldnt imagine it being a whole lot better in a Z06.I do like the little fender flaires on the Z06's though.Im not a chevy guy but i think chevy did a good job with the newer vettes. But god damn shit is expensive for those things!!

Coming form a Ford guy, I'd give my right nut for a C6 Z06 man. I feel dirty just saying it but it's true.
LMFAO. I know exactly how you feel! I have enough kids so i would gladly give both nuts for one.

I've been torn between a Z06 and an 08 base model. The 08 base model is the way to go. They make 480+ with an intake and a tune. A C6Z06 will make around 460 stock. The Z06 definitely looks great, but the performance of an 08 is definitely more inticing I think!

What are the 08's base going for? 480+ with intake and tune.....is that to the wheels? One day Im ready to go get a Vette and the next day Im thinking I wont be satisfied unless I get another built boosted Z. I hear you can get those rear ZO6 fenders aftermarket.

Andy thanks for the pic. My Z was totalled. Id like to get into it but Im not trying to hurt the outcome of the situation. It happened on my 35th birthday and I wasnt even around when it happened. Ive never in my life had something like this taken away from me. It wasnt a million dollar supercar. It was a project and love of mine that cant be replaced.

New Z06's sticker for $80+, but they're trying to move them right now, they're available for low $60's new. Lightly used 2006's can be had for high $40's, low $50's. A Z gives you more than just a bigger engine, it's a wider body, flared front and rear fenders, 200+ pounds lighter, instead of fiberglass you get carbon fiber, instead of steel frame you get aluminum, instead of aluminum cradles you get magnesium and titanium. Better brakes, better suspension, bigger wheels and tires, stronger differential, dry sump oiling, it goes on and on. I've got about $7k in mods (that's including labor, I let the Pros @ Scotty's Corvettes install the heads and cam), still normally aspirated, and now have a 7,000 rpm 650 hp engine that still runs every day on 91 octane.

As an alternative, you could pick up a base C6, add a supercharger, (6 pounds of boost Lance, NOT 12), and have about 480 to the wheels.

Neither suspension is designed for drag racing launches.

Man J Im really sorry to hear your car was totalled, if you dont mind me asking what happened? That car was a passion of yours it seemed, so many hrs of labor and love into what was one of the sexiest z's around! IMO, go reg c6 with z51 pkg...you know you are gonna mod it, so why get a z6 if you are gonna take off most of the parts that make it a z06...but hey if you do get a z06, you will tech. still be building up a z car...kinda,lol :driving::thumbsup:
