Without any kind of instructions or guidelines from Strange I have ran into a couple problems: The machined adapter ring to use the large bearing on the small stem pinion. It has a flat side and a side with a taper in it, without knowing I figured this taper would face toward the rear of the pinion, away from the head. Is this correct? See image below.

If it's not correct I will change it no problem. Now for everything else, I want to make sure get it all in right. What they call the Torrington pinion bearing washer, the only place I can find that it goes is into the small end of the Dayton bearing, away from the pinion head. Now the machined pinion spacer takes the place of the normal crush collar, this one has a 1.500" opening in it, much larger than the stem of my pinion. I can't figure out, with the parts I have on hand, how to get it to work right. If it place it between the 2 bearings in the pinion support housing it seems like it would be the correct thickness, but it has no way of staying centered up in there no matter which direction I turn it. Also need to know if this is even the right order that this all goes together. See the pics below for what I'm talking about.

I look on Strange's website and in their catalog it mentions 2 piece spacers with shims in several spaces, but not with the UltraCase package. Just wondering if I'm missing a piece or possibly have the wrong spacer or if I've just assembled this thing so ****ed up that I'm screwed, haha. I can't talk to them being that it's the weekend so I'm looking for help here. I posted on Yellowbullet but I guess my thread has to wait for a moderator's approval and it's been nearly 24 hours and it's still not up.

UltraCase 2.50" bore
28-spline pinion
35 spline axles
Strangle Pro steel spool

Part Number P3250ST

If I have this all wrong then it's Ok, you never learn without getting in there and doing it!

Omar... I'm almost positive that the taper goes Toward the gear end of the pinion... I would hate to tear a center section apart and look though lol. Do you have the 3.812 bore or the 4.00? There could be a difference in direction between the two.

Edit... 3.25 bore case... taper towards the yolk. Check for clearance between the taper on the sleeve and the small bearing cage.

Yes, the 3.25" bore. So I have the taper correct, however does the spacer not go in between the 2 bearings as I have it pictured? The small bearing doesn't fit into the taper of the adapter, at least not how I would think it does. The taper doesn't stick out far enough for it even to make any different unless the machined spacer is supposed to sit on it somehow. Therein lies my problem, the machined spacer fits so loose as to make me think it's not the right one.

*edit* Let's be sure we're clear, first, the sleeve that adapts the large bearing to the small pinion, it has a taper, currently I have that taper away from the pinion head, toward the yoke.

Then there is also a machined taper (more like a shoulder) on the spacer that goes (I presume) in between the 2 spacers. I'm not sure which direction it is supposed to face, nor if I have the bearing washer in the correct position.

A diagram would be nice!

It may not be. You may have a spacer for a different case or a pro gear. The shank on a pro gear is different. Have you tired a stock crush sleve? You may not even need those.

Nah, I bought all this shit standalone because I didn't have anything else to go with. Groves gave me a box of stock stuff to sift through, maybe I'll get lucky and find something in there.

Do you know the diameter of a Pro Gear's shaft? The opening on this spacer is exactly 1.500".
