I was in afghanistan but had a few buddies in Iraq, a lot of times they do this if the threat is high. A pretty close friend told me that the kids run in front of the vehicles so they can stop. Then when they do stop for the kids they get attacked. A lot of the children are used for human shields also. After awhile their orders were to just run them over. Im assuming this was a similar situation. Crazy shit.
