The Balloon was called "The Wings of the Wind" it was a yellow inverted Pyramid from Massachusetts. I saw the balloon fly over my house a few mins prior to the incident.

They were landing, and hit the power-lines on the Westside of NM528 and what looks like Enchanted Hills BLVD, the propane tanks exploded, the basket fell and 1 lady was killed, there is a man in critical condition.

Also, about 2 rock throws from my house, I saw the whole thing, another balloon had a hard landing, the lifeguard had to air-out another person.

Its chaos over here, both wrecks happened within 1/4 mile of one another.

The news is saying 528 and 550 but it appears to be closer to the new Wal-Mart

That's horrible. The last couple years have been rough for the Fiesta. I would say "That's why I don't ride in hot air balloons!" but realistically I probably have a greater chance of dying on the freeway. Prayers for the families involved. :(

That really sucks, I feel bad for the family(s) involved. It's happened at least once for the past few years already.

The only thing I don't understand is why they chose that spot for the balloon fiesta. I would think they would want to get away from all the powerlines and traffic, maybe somewhere on the west side.

I hate the balloons, this was a very tragic accident. Glad the fiesta is over for the year.
