This will be the first build thread so bare with Me if I screw this up. I'm in the middle of redoing my front suspension on my 2000 gmc Sierra. I'm tired of the IFS nonsense and looking for a more capable setup. Here's where i started...

I started with a 6 inch rancho lift, and added and added until the ride just flat out sucked. My steering is heavy and the angles on the front drive shafts were pretty disgusting. So I cut out the entire front end and started fresh.

I squeezed it into the garage with some donated wheels and tires. I had to let all the air out of them to clear the garage door.

I already have the axle ready to go in. It's a drivers side drop Dana 44 with 4.56 gears, chromoly axles, and brand new brakes

Awesome. Looking forward to seeing your progress. Who are you getting your brackets from? What axle are you going to put in? And what t case do you have in your truck?
I got most of the brackets from Ballistic Fab. My buddy use to work there so hes really been helping me out with the planning of this. Im using the stock NP8 transfer case, but I have a different output shaft that fits a 31 spline coupler and jeep style front drive shaft.

Today was spent building the cross member that has the lower link mounts and tranny mount. It started life as a 2X6 1/4 wall chunk. We cut up the OE trans cross member that also held the drag links. The weight saved from removing all that bullshit is gonna make this worth it to me. At least thats what I keep telling myself.

We also added some strength to the frame with the beef up plates. You can see what it started out as, and then after the plates

Got some more finished today. The links are done and sorted out. Had to section the upper and relocate the aft end mount for it. But they are cycling great and my angles are great. It might not look like anythings been done, but it takes a bunch of hours of adjusting and cycling and then readjusting.

Lookin good.

Probably gonna want to truss the shit out of the 44 if you plan on air time. I've bent quite a few under a full size and not much abuse.

No shit? Do you have any picks? I've been looking into a few prefabbed trusses, but haven't put much thought into one yet. Is that your truck in your sig? Info?
