Factory Five Mustang Build?

I picked up this 1994 GT for $2500:


It has 164k miles, but actually runs pretty strong. The tranny shifts smooth and car pulls hard, rides tight. It's pretty much stock except for a K&N "hot air" kit and a shitty MSD coil that is busted (wouldn't start AFTER I paid for it so seller went and bought a stock coil).

The bad:
Needs a clutch
Speedo works intermittently
Runs a little warm (RM in NORMAL)
Has BALD rear tires
Needs fog light/fog light switch sticks
Needs passenger window switch (works great from drivers pad)
Paint is horrendous (stock teal ok, but the crooked racing stripes have to go!)

I finally have the workshop of my dreams to build the car of my dreams. Hopefully this will be the grandfather/father/son project I've always wanted. I promised my dad we would build one of these some day:


It's a secret though - my girlfriend is going to be pissed once she sees this car in the workshop. I give it a week before she snaps to where I've been spending all my time! :nono:

Nice buy on the stang. I am pretty sure there is another kit roadster out running around ABQ. I think TRMIN8R raced him and so did I once a long long time ago. They run pretty damn good with the 5.0's.

I know of at least two guys with the Factory Five kit, and another guy with a Cobra kit car running a 331 and nitrous? He dynoed it at dyno edge right after we TRIED to tune the original Slobra with a 2.1 KB...
Damn how much time do you think a build like that will take?

I know of 3 in town personally. All mild engine builds, but these cars are so light they're still a lot of fun.

I spent 3 years working in MA about 1-1/2 hours from their facility, and saw quite a few of these cars. I like the dual hoop option.

If I ever get to build one, it will run a Windsor stroker, and if not an IRS, at least the 3-link.
There are several FFR kits in town. I know of one at my house.

As for time I'm thinking it will take me ~3 years to get this done. I'm trying to avoid getting into debt, so saving up for an engine rebuild, tranny and the $12k kit will take awile...

Mind if I pick your brain about the kit, maybe check it out? I have a few lingering questions as to what parts I will actually use; I don't want to fix/upgrade anything that won't find it's way into the kit...
