This time last year, I blew the converter in my GMC and in turn took out the tranny. As most projects start I was simply going to buy a new converter and tranny for it and get it back on the road... EASY! I'm know I'm not the only one this happens to... but the urge to tear shit apart hit me... so out came the engine, the front suspension was ripped out from under the frame, and the fuel system was trashed! As money and time allow, with having a 1 year old daughter and new wife, I've been upgrading and restoring the hot rod to a better looking, more functional vehicle! The list of crap includes:

- Upgraded fuel system; 5/8" feed, 1/2" return, BG 280gph fuel pump, BG high flow filter, SX Performance regulator.
- Restored front suspension components and new Moog ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm, etc.
- 5 Lug (from 8 lug) disc brake conversion; Early Classic Enterprises 2" drop spindles, 2" drop springs (from cut down springs-bad idea!)
- 15x6 Center Line Convo Pro front wheels
- MT Sportsman front tires
- Adding DynoMax bullet mufflers to existing SpinTech Super Stock mufflers (for when the daughter is with me!)
- TCI TH350 Competition tranny (Thanks BADNEWS!!!)
- Hughes GM40 4000 stall competition converter
- Hurst Quarter Stick shifter (Thanks Cletus Riedel!!)
- Holley HP1000 carburetor with a few little trick touches...
- Weight removal where ever I can.

I'm on the fianal home stretch with only having to install the converter and tranny and finishing everything up! Hoping to have it ready to be at the Hot Rod Rumble on Oct. 24th.

And there's my build and progress. Pics will follow soon!

I was running 13.66's previously.. I'd be happy with 13.40's-13.30's. The engine has been left untouched besides the new carb. I've heard rumors of the TCI tranny knocking .2-.3 off of the ET. Curious to see how that works out!

Hmm, a billet spacer in between the Main body and the throttle plate, interesting Kurt, so this will lengthen the Venturi to create a stronger signal at the Boosters and pull fuel from the main circuit earlier? enlighten me...please.

Hey John! The inital concept behind the spacer was to create a "velocity stack" under the main body to help straighten the air. I wasn't at work the day it got flowed but the spacer helped pick up aprox. 10 cfm and an actual velocity stack picked up an additional 5. To be honest, I don't know how the booster signal was effected by the spacer. This carb was a "wild hair up the ass" concept that my boss (Jim) threw at me one day.. once I'm up and running again we're going to strap it on the dyno and see how this carb measures up to the HP1000 that I currently have.

Here's a fun shot!

FWIW putting in your transmission was an absolute PITA.. but its bringing it all one step closer to running again. Hope I'm there when it fires. Fix your Accelerator pump leak. :pimp:
