Not so much of a technical question, more advice. If you were in my position and had around 20K that you could use freely on whatever you wanted for your car, (1989 IROCZ) what would you do?? I was leaning towards maybe an LSX swap with some kind of power adder and do the whole Street/Strip weekend warrior thing. Hopefully building the suspension for that setup, doing the whole shabang, 9" rear, built tranny, fuel system, wheels tires, doing the interior, and whatever safety precautions the car would need. So I am looking for opinions on what you guys would personally do if you were in my situation. And no I dont want to sell the car and buy something else with the money, I know they are sick mullethead beaters but I love 3rd gens and wanna make this one just as nice or better than 4th gens. So I would appreciate your guys input!! Thanks so much.

keep saving for the new Camaro!
I was seriously thinking about doing that also. But the only thing is that Im afraid if I get a new one I wont wanna touch it because its a brand new car! I like getting my hands dirty and building something from scratch. Plus those are gonna be some serious $$$$$$$$$$$!

12 grand woth of mods is quite a bit
It sure is, but is quite a bit enough? Not for me lol. I wanna build a car with 800whp, 15mpg, and perfect street driveability. I already have a good foundation, car doesnt need appearance mods at all it already looks good. Just needs to run good too.

Big as in Big block?? That probably wont do so well on the 15mpg deal...
How about Like a 434 LSX and an 88mm Turbo???

It's possible with a turbo LS1, Sean at Solid makes 830rwhp and gets around 15mpg. If you're gonna turbo it, just use a small cube LS1 and run about a 76mm turbo, good gas mileage and plenty of power. If you need more power, add 100 shot. That should go low 9's...
Do you know the specs on Sean at Solidtechs Camaro? Like CI, Turbo size, what computer he uses?

Thats exactly what I wanna do. With an A2W IC 4L80E and a bolt in Currie 9".
Fully streetable 9sec 800whp third gen??? Holy shit. That would be sick.

Do a monsterous build on your motor, slap a huge ass turbo on it and call it a day.
Monsterous motors can get pretty expensive, I gotta be able to afford a whole new suspension also!!!

So your saying for a really fast but streetable setup do the big cubes and Direct port, but for a more fun daily driven car, do a stock ls1 cube with something like a 76mm turbo?
What do you think the labor would cost for a build like this if I had someone do it for me?

Labor will depend on if you have a bolt on turbo kit of a custom one. It will be a lot though, either way.
Yea Im thinking that paying for the labor isnt gonna be covered in my budget.
