I have heard these tranny's are junk and was wondering if anyone has had any luck with them. Mine is slipping really bad and I am going with a th350 for now instead but in time was thinking about getting the 700 rebuilt just for the od. What is your opinions on the 700? Thanks.

Ran one behind a 300hp 350 and took out 3rd and 4th twice. Sloppy shifts and it always leaked. Junk it I say...but if they are built right with a lot of good parts and money the can handle some power.

The TV (Throttle Valve) cable is the biggest bitch because it controls the line pressure of the tranny and no one likes setting the damn thing. If not set correctly, it can cause sloppy shifts and can burn shit up with low or high line pressure.

However, TCI has now come out with a constant pressure valve body that gets rid of the TV Cable controlling line pressures. I don't know exactly how it works, because they came out with it right after I built the 700r4 for my '72 C10. So I didn't do a ton of research on it because I was committed to what I had already built. If I were to build one now tho, or my truck wasn't parked, I would definitely look into it.

i have one in my camaro and it just has a shift kit havent had any problems with it
How much power are you making? They will handle a stock 305 or 350 just fine anywhere under like 250hp 350tq.
