I'm a loan officer. I've been doing residential home loans for the last 10 years. I owned my own shop from 2003 to June of last year. I tried to hold off and not lay off any of my employees from mid 07 until I closed in June 08 and went without any pay during that time. Since then I've had the reverse midas touch, every place that I've went to either ran into warehouse line (funding) problems or folded completely. I'm at a mortgage banker now and things look great, but its commission only and I won't get my first checks until mid Dec. It's just the nature of the biz. I don't really think I'm qualified to do much more than this and I keep telling myself that people gotta have a place to live, so it HAS to work out. This line of work has received a bad name recently (sometimes deservedly so) but there are quite a few talented, ethical people in it who really care about their clients. I'm just keeping my head up and thinking that we are pretty close to the bottom and things will turn around soon. ;)

New bump for a blown head gasket on my Volvo, yeay. Who's got a daily of similar value to trade? Or lower plus cash is cool too.
